Isaiah Thomas claimed his spot as president of maligned athletes, calling out the Toronto Raptors for their lacking any sense of loyalty to DeMar DeRozan, having traded him after nine seasons with the team.

“Just learn from my story,” Thomas said in a tweet. “Loyalty is just a word in this game SMH.”

The Raptors brass had told DeRozan there was no reason to worry as trade rumors mounted days ago prior to the end of the Las Vegas Summer League.

The All-Star shooting guard was obviously irate when he found out about the trade by president Masai Ujiri, who pulled the trigger on the deal hoping to give his team the best chance to capture the throne in the Eastern Conference.

Thomas, on the other hand, spent two-and-a-half seasons in Boston before a postseason-ending hip injury derailed his future with the team.

Since, Thomas has seen four different cities in the span of a calendar year, going from Boston to Cleveland, then to Los Angeles, and finally winding up in Denver after securing a one-year deal with the Nuggets.

Some of Twitter felt Thomas' anger is misplaced, arguing that he was owed nothing, with his situation being much different than DeRozan's.

DeRozan was the face of the franchise, the longest-standing Raptor since Vince Carter, while Thomas had a short stint as the star of the team during a rebuilding period — a vast difference.

Furthermore, if reports are true, DeRozan was lied to by the Raptors' front office, while Thomas operated thinking his connection with the fanbase would make him an untradable asset, disregarding the potential career-altering injury he suffered.
