Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets had a career-high 48 points in their win over the Boston Celtics. They already locked in the victory with some time remaining and Murray seemingly wanted to notch in a 50-point game, much to the Celtics' frustration. But Murray, during the post-game interview, explained himself.

Check out the clip below where Murray confirmed that he was trying to get 50 points but meant no real harm. Overall, Murray said that it was just a fun game and a good win for his team.

Murray was referring to the last play of the game. The Nuggets had the win in the bag with 10 seconds remaining. As the clock was about to expire, Murray heaved it from way beyond the arc. His shot didn't go in and his tally was stuck at 48 points. But the Celtics, especially Kyrie Irving, were not pleased with his behavior.

This incident has happened many times where players want to pad their stats even if the game is already decided. Some chase for that elusive triple-double, others go for some NBA record. Of course, there's no written rule as to how to behave when a game's already decided. It's really just a matter of pride and respect to one's opponents.
