Tragedy struck in Boulder, Colorado on Monday when an armed suspect shot and killed no less than 10 individuals inside a supermarket in what is being dubbed as yet another mass shooting. For his part, Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone could not help but be emotional when speaking about the incident that transpired so close to home.

During his pre-game press conference, Malone made it a point to discuss the most recent manifestation of extreme violence in the nation (h/t Michael Spencer of CBS Denver):

Coach Malone was adamant about shining a light on the tragedy prior to the game (h/t Katy Winge of AltitudeTV):

“It seems like we've been here before, but before we get into tonight's game and to basketball, I think it's important that we turn our attention to where it should be: Boulder.”

The suspect, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, of Arvada, near Denver, reportedly open fired inside a King Soopers store on Monday afternoon. The suspect is now in the custody of the police, but at the moment, the motive of the mass murder has yet to be determined.

Malone could not hold back the tears when he mentioned that Police Officer Eric Talley, a father of seven, was also one of the victims of the tragic shooting.

The Nuggets are in action on Tuesday as they face off against the Orlando Magic. However, it is clear that there are other more important matters on Malone's mind at the moment.
