Denver Nuggets sophomore guard Monte Morris is excited about the news that his team will play the New Orleans Pelicans on Christmas Day.

As noted by Harrison Wind of BSN Denver, Morris said that playing on Christmas Day is a testament to what the team has become and that the NBA has now taken notice.

“I always dreamed about playing on ABC, got the chance to do that this year. Watching the playoffs, always dreamed about playing in it, was able to do that. Watching in college, you see LeBron taking on the Warriors, and Westbrook playing Harden and those guys when I was younger,” Morris said.

“Getting a chance to do it on Christmas Day, it's big time. I was watching it when I was a kid. Now, we displayed our talents enough down in Denver to open people’s eyes and they want to see us play. To be able to do that on Christmas and hopefully get the win, and then go open some presents.”

Last season, the Nuggets were one of the best teams in the league — talent and record-wise. Although they had a disappointing exit in the playoffs after securing the second seed in the West, they remain a young team that is only going to continue to improve with the core that they have.

Morris is glad to be a part of a Nuggets squad that has the potential to be really good for the foreseeable future. And for him, playing on Christmas Day is a good reminder to everyone that they are for real.
