The Denver Nuggetssigning of professional scorer Nick Young comes at a crucial time for these Denver Nuggets, who are fresh of losing starting shooting guard Gary Harris for nearly a month with a right hip injury. The Nuggets only played eight players against the Atlanta Hawks over the weekend, and one of them, Jamal Murray, is questionable heading into a four-game homestand, according to The Athletic's Nick Kosmider.

Murray is nursing a shin injury and has struggled mightily with his efficiency since his 48-point explosion against the Boston Celtics in early November. Over his last 16 games, the Nuggets' guard has shot just 38.3 percent from the field ad 30.1 percent from three-point range.

After going on a seven-game win streak, the Nuggets have lost their last two games and are slowly losing their grip among the top spots in the Western Conference, dropping games against the Charlotte Hornets and the Hawks at the end of their five-game Eastern Conference road trip.

Young, a longtime veteran now with championship mettle after winning last year's title with the Golden State Warriors, will bring a capable three-point shooter after shooting a respectable 37.7 percent from beyond the arc last season.

The 6-foot-7 wing will get immediate run, as backup guards Malik Beasley and Monte Morris get increased playing time as well with the loss of Harris, who could be out nearly a month with his injury.

Veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas, who is recovering from a tricky hip injury, is expected to return soon but the Nuggets have no official timetable on his return.
