Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic was named 2020-21 NBA MVP on Tuesday night. In the process, Jokic helped make himself super rich by becoming eligible for a supermax contract extension in 2022 or 2023, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Based on current projections, a Jokic supermax extension in 2022 would be the largest contract in NBA history at $241 million. Here's a breakdown of how it would look:

That is an insane number, but of course, Nikola Jokic is worth every penny. The entire Nuggets franchise revolves around Jokic's breathtaking dominance, and there's currently no reason to expect the center to go anywhere else for a long time. Jokic has even suggested he would like to be Denver's Tim Duncan and play there his entire career.

Things could change, of course, but the expectation should be that Jokic signs this extension the first chance he gets. That's an incredible amount of money, and just remember that he's doing this after coming into the league as a second-round pick. It has been an impressive journey for the 26-year-old Serbian.

Nikola Jokic's current contract is a five-year deal worth nearly $148 million. He signed the deal in 2018 after the Nuggets declined his cheap team option, instead choosing to reward their franchise centerpiece with a lucrative deal.

Jokic just wrapped up the best regular season of his career, averaging 26.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and 8.3 assists in 34.6 minutes per game. He played in all 72 games and led the Nuggets to a 47-25 record, good for third in the Western Conference.
