Just when the Denver Nuggets managed to snap their three-game losing streak, they suffered their worst loss of the 2017-18 NBA season at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs.

As a result, there has been plenty of speculation regarding head coach Michael Malone's offensive scheme.

However, center Nikola Jokic does not feel the coaches are to blame for their recent offensive woes. According to Gina Mizell of The Denver Post, he feels the players should be held more accountable:

“It's not the coaches. It was on us. We made the mistakes. If you're going to blame coaches if we lose by (30) points, you're a bad player if you're gonna say that. It was on us. It was the starters.”

While it is encouraging to see Jokic stick up for his coach, Denver has still experienced some serious issues on the offensive end. Saturday's loss to the Spurs marked the fourth time in the last five games the Nuggets failed to score at least 100 points.

However, Jokic has still managed to pick up the slack on offense after a rough start to the new year. The embarrassing 112-80 loss to the Spurs spoiled what ultimately was a strong performance from The Joker, in which he recorded 23 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

That said, it is clear that he must continue to take on a central role in the offense if Denver plans on getting back into the win column anytime soon. However, Jokic has been admittedly reluctant to do so at the expense of the other players on the team.
