Former President Donald Trump's impeachment trial begins Tuesday, and OJ Simpson has some thoughts.

Simpson suggested it will be impossible for jurors–in this case, the United States Senate–to refrain from bringing their preconceived notions of Trump to the trial. “The Juice” added he believes senators will be inclined to vote in the fashion most appealing to their constituents with midterm elections in late-2022.

The Hall of Fame running back labeled the trial a “waste of time,” though he said it is possible it brings an air of finality to false claims of election fraud and the “Stop the Steal” movement.

OJ Simpson concluded by sending condolences to legendary head coach and former Buffalo Bills middle linebacker Marty Schottenheimer, who died Monday.

The People of the State of California vs. Orenthal James Simpson is still one of the most infamous murder trials in U.S. history. Simpson, who was found not guilty in the said trial, has since had numerous run-ins with the law, including an armed robbery charge in 2007.

Trump's second impeachment trial will have its own unique circumstances due to COVID-19, per CNN's Caroline Kelly:

A Senate official familiar with the planning said there will be seats reserved for senators in the public gallery above the chamber and in the Senate's “marble room” that is just off the floor, where the trial will be shown on television.

Senators will have to be on the Senate floor to vote.

The American public will await the verdict. OJ Simpson is less curious, believing the proceedings to be more political than judicious.
