Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle once famously (and definitely controversially) compared Doug McDermott to Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller, but as of midnight, he probably has a shot at being a Pacers favorite in his own right – just maybe not as huge as the “Uncle Drew” star.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the 6-foot-8 swingman has committed to signing with Indiana for three-years in a $22-million deal.

Priority Sports, which represents the 26 year-old, confirmed the Woj bomb on their Twitter account shortly as well.

The sweet-shooting forward has not found a home since being drafted in 2014 by the Chicago Bulls. After being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the man referred to as “Dougie McBuckets” has been shipped incessantly, typically as a sweetener in a much larger deal or to match salaries.

Now off his rookie scale contract, the former National College Player of the Year could probably cement his stay this time around with the Pacers valuable need for shooting – and McDermott just happens to be one of the league's best shooters. The six-year pro owns a career three-point average of 40%, and most recently knocked down almost 50% of his shots behind the arc on his stint with the New York Knicks and Mavericks.

Doug McDermott is expected to back up young up and comer Bojan Bogdanovic or new franchise player Victor Oladipo given his ability to play either position although he may also start if need be on certain matchups, preferably when there's the possibility of a mismatch given his defensive woes.
