The Indiana Pacers have been linked to forward Pascal Siakam for several weeks, and now the team has acquired the star from the Toronto Raptors.

In exchange for the All-Star power forward, the Raptors are set to receive Bruce Brown Jr., Jordan Nwora, and three first-round picks from the Pacers. The New Orleans Pelicans are also being included in this trade and are sending former first-round pick Kira Lewis Jr. to the Raptors.

With the news of the deal, the Pacers have seen a massive shift in their odds to win the 2024 NBA Championship, according to FanDuel.

Before acquiring Siakam, the Pacers were +10000 to take home the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Now Indiana has +6500 odds to be the last team standing in June.

Star guard Tyrese Haliburton is expected to miss at least another week for the Pacers after straining his hamstring against the Boston Celtics early last week. If he is able to return before too long and play at the level he had reached before going down with the injury, he and Siakam could make a devastating 1-2 punch in the playoffs.

Currently averaging 23.6 points and 12.5 assists per game, Haliburton ranks 22nd in scoring and first in assists.

Despite losing Brown, the Pacers managed to keep their stable of solid rotation players in the deal. Myles Turner, Ben Mathurin, Buddy Hield, and Aaron Nesmith all average double figure scoring numbers for Indiana.

The Pacers are 23-17 on the season and showed their ability to play dominant basketball during the NBA In-Season Tournament. Now they hope that the addition of Siakam justifies the shift in their championship odds.
