The Indiana Pacers have been one of the most surprising teams in the NBA. The Pacers are sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 31-25 record. After trading away their superstar small forward Paul George, the Pacers were expected to be a lottery team. In fact, the Pacers initially faced a lot of scrutiny for not getting a large return for George when they traded him to the Thunder in the offseason. Now, Victor Oladipo has become the star of the Pacers, and the team is poised to begin a deep postseason run.

It now appears that the Pacers front office believe that the team is suited to become major players in this year's free agency period.

Pritchard on core and attracting FAs: “I don't think there's any doubt (our core is attractive). And Herb saying he wants to spend $ and build a better team. … We're going to use Victor, Myles and Sabonis as major attractions.”

Pritchard may actually have a point. The Pacers are an up and coming team. They have the money to pursue any player they want, and their culture will definitely be appealing for unrestricted free agents. While the Pacers aren't contenders, their team has a knack for having fun on the court and getting everyone involved. Also, Oladipo, Turner, and Sabonis have made the Pacers an interesting destination.

If the Pacers land a big free agent this summer, their team could drastically improve. Hence, Pritchard will have quite a sales pitch for the upcoming free agents in 2018.

Hopefully, the Pacers can continue to rebuild and move on from the George era.
