The Indiana Pacers reportedly were among the teams which pursued Orlando Magic power forward Aaron Gordon at the trade deadline, according to Ian Begley of SNY.

The Magic supposedly “tried hard” to move Gordon at the deadline, but weren't able to find a deal to their liking:

If Brooklyn has interest in trading for Aaron Gordon this summer, the club will probably have significant competition. The Pacers are among the teams that had a degree of interest in pursuing a deal for Gordon before the deadline, per SNY sources.

Gordon has appeared in 51 games for the Magic this season. He’s averaging 14.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 42.9 percent from the field, 31.2 percent from beyond the arc and 67.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Magic signed Gordon to a four-year, $80 million contract in the summer of 2018. He’s making $19,863,636 this season and owed $18,136,364 in 2020-21.

Orlando appears to want to build its franchise around youngsters Mohamed Bamba and Jonathan Isaac, which means Gordon could be the odd man out in the frontcourt since the Magic aren’t going to trade All-Star Nikola Vucevic.

Gordon, the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, has career averages of 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

The Pacers are 34-24 on the season. They are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Pacers All-Star shooting guard Victor Oladipo is still knocking off the rust after missing so much time. Gordon could have taken some of the offensive burden off of Malcolm Brogdon's shoulders if the Pacers acquired him.

However, Gordon might not have meshed well with fellow frontcourt player Domantas Sabonis.
