The Orlando Magic reportedly “tried hard” to trade power forward Aaron Gordon at the trade deadline, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy.

The Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves were among the teams which had interest in acquiring Gordon from the Magic, but Orlando wound up keeping the high-flyer:

Golden State was among the teams with whom the Magic discussed a Gordon trade. So were the Timberwolves.

As one source told Heavy.com, “They were trying, and they tried hard to get something done with him at the deadline. All that gets brought back into focus once the season is over and you have a good idea what the market is for him.”

Gordon has appeared in 48 games for the Magic this season. He's averaging 13.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 42.2 percent from the field, 29.8 percent from beyond the arc and 66.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The Magic signed Gordon to a four-year, $80 million contract in the summer of 2018. He's making $19,863,636 this season and owed $18,136,364 in 2020-21.

Orlando appears to want to build its franchise around youngsters Mohamed Bamba and Jonathan Isaac, which means Gordon could be the odd man out in the frontcourt since the Magic aren't going to trade All-Star Nikola Vucevic.

Gordon, the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, has career averages of 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
