Arizona freshman Bennedict Mathurin finally saw his childhood dream come true on Thursday night as he was selected 6th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2022 NBA Draft. The Canadian guard was always expected to be a high pick in this class after a fantastic season in Tucson where he emerged as one of the best players in the country.

Mathurin averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per night while shooting 36% from downtown in 37 games. He also played well in the NCAA Tournament but the Wildcats were ultimately beaten in the Sweet 16 by the Houston Cougars. As one of the premier players at his position in the 2022 NBA Draft, Mathurin has tremendous size and length for a guard. He's 6'7″ with eye-popping athleticism and explosiveness, showing the ability to consistently get downhill and score.

Mathurin can also shoot it very well from both beyond the arc and mid-range, and he already showed he's capable of delivering when the pressure is on, dropping 30 against TCU in March Madness. He could struggle to play defense at the NBA level at first, but with time Mathurin should be able to be a solid two-way player. With an already imposing stature, there should be no problems for him adapting to the physicality of the Association.

Congratulations to Bennedict Mathurin on the 2022 NBA Draft.
