With Paul George once again voicing his desire to hit the free agent market to possibly join the Los Angeles Lakers, it has put the Indiana Pacers in a tough position.

According to Nate Taylor of the Indy Star, the Pacers' front office is hoping to deal away the All-Star forward prior to the 2017 NBA Draft on Thursday afternoon.

The Pacers, according to a source, are more concerned about finding a team or multiple teams to help facilitate a trade that would bring them the most compensation possible in exchange for George. Kevin Pritchard, the Pacers’ new president, engaged with several teams Monday about potential trades involving George, according to a source. Pritchard is hoping to have a trade agreement in place before Thursday’s draft.

Indiana has been actively looking into trade options for George over the last couple of days with several possible destinations emerging such as the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, there may be some hesitation to make a deal from other teams because of the perception that he may just be a one-year rental. The Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards are also said to have some interest in George.

Despite the Cavaliers parting ways with ex-general manager David Griffin on Monday, the team is expected to remain in the conversation as a landing spot for George's services. They can offer the Pacers one of the more intriguing deal at the moment centered around All-Star forward Kevin Love who has three years left on his five-year, $113.2 million deal.

The Lakers could also enter the picture, but there is some hesitance to involve any of their young core pieces or the second overall pick in this year's draft because of the inclination that George will join the team next summer in free agency.
