The L.A. Clippers have added themselves to the Paul George sweepstakes, reportedly interested in a game-changing player to change the scope of their playoff success, according to Sean Deveney of the Sporting News.

Lob City is “desperate” to change their postseason misfortune and could potentially risk a rather-quick departure to the Los Angeles Lakers the very next season, if not banking on some guarantee that the All-Star forward will remain with the team.

The Boston Celtics could also rise as contenders for George once again since last season's trade deadline push, which was futile after Larry Bird refrained to pull the trigger. After trading the No. 1 overall selection to the Philadelphia 76ers, Boston now has plenty of extra first-round future picks — including potentially three first-rounders in 2018 and two-to-four first round selections in 2019.

The Celtics could bring George in for this season, plus sign him as a max-level free agent this summer, once again taking a potential risk that the team can put together a run to the NBA Finals and hope George sticks around in the process.

The Pacers will not get as much as they could have gotten during last season's trade deadline and they will sorely pay the price for it, as the Lakers are reportedly unwilling to part with any of their young pieces to get George.

The 27-year-old seems to have a preference for playing near his hometown, making the Lakers and Clippers actual frontrunners for his services, with the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Celtics on the out looking in.
