The Green Bay Packers are considered to be one of the favorites in the NFC to win the Super Bowl this season. Aaron Rodgers and company have started the season with a 7-2 record, with the second loss coming last week against the Kansas City Chiefs without the superstar quarterback who was out due to COVID-19. Even with Jordan Love starting, the Packers only lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs by a final score of 13-7.

Needless to say, this team is legit on both sides of the ball. The defense has been coming on strong and the offense has looked very dangerous for the most part.

Despite how good the offense has looked thus far, the Packers had the opportunity to make a major mid-season splash. After Odell Beckham Jr. was released by the Cleveland Browns and cleared waivers, it was reported that the Packers were his preferred destination. That led to a one-year, minimum offer from Green Bay, but Beckham chose to sign with the Los Angeles Rams.

While losing out on Beckham was disappointing to most fans, the Packers did make an offer. However, according to a report from Jordan Schultz, Beckham never felt like Green Bay was truly “all-in” on signing him.

Even though the Packers did not end up getting Beckham, many believe they will be just fine. Davante Adams is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL right now and both Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard are back healthy. Not to mention, Rodgers has old faithful, Randall Cobb, back and playing a big role in the offense.

With all of that being said, let's take a look at three reasons the Packers will regret not signing Odell Beckham Jr. when they had the chance.

3. An Injury To Davante Adams Could End Super Bowl Hopes

Hopefully, the Packers will never have to come to this bridge. Adams is the heart and soul of the offense for Rodgers and losing him would practically end Green Bay's hopes of winning a championship. But, it's a point that has to be brought up.

Should Adams go down with any kind of long-term injury, the Packers would be in trouble. Even if he was forced to miss one playoff game, that could be enough to knock Green Bay out of contention.

Adding a wide receiver like Beckham would have given the Packers a fallback option. No one is going to say that Beckham will get back to being the elite superstar that he used to be, but with Rodgers throwing him the ball that was a possibility. Not having that kind of a fallback option could be a very scary proposition if Adams is forced to miss any time.

2. Odell Beckham Jr. And Davante Adams Would Have Been Impossible To Stop

As we just mentioned, there was no guarantee that Beckham would be able to get back to the level of play that he once showed off each and every week. However, he has never had a quarterback like Rodgers throwing him the ball. He also has never played alongside a superstar wideout like Adams, no offense intended to Jarvis Landry.

Can you imagine Rodgers having the ability to target either Adams or Beckham? What would opposing defenses do to try to slow that tandem down? It would be nearly impossible.

Unfortunately, we won't get the chance to see that wide receiver duo. Adams was very hopeful that the Packers would sign Beckham, but that won't happen. Instead, Adams will continue having to face a brutal scheme from opposing defenses moving forward.

1. Green Bay Is Super Bowl Or Bust This Season

While most fans in Green Bay have allowed the offseason drama with Aaron Rodgers to die down, there should still be concern there. No one truly knows what the future will hold for this football team. Rodgers could choose to request a trade or Adams could end up wanting out as well, as contract negotiation talks have not gone well with the Packers.

This season is truly Super Bowl or bust. There is no guarantee that this same squad will be back next season. Having the opportunity to add a threat and talent like Beckham to this squad would have been huge.

Granted, missing out on him does not change the fact that the Packers are legitimate championship contenders this season. But, if he plays strong for the Rams, that could make Los Angeles a much more competitive team for Green Bay to face. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out and whether or not Beckham gets back to being a star with the Rams.
