The Oklahoma City Thunder continued their run to begin the second round, dominating the Dallas Mavericks with a 22-point win. It looked like the Thunder may run away with the series again, but the Mavericks returned the favor with a nine-point Game 2 victory. It is time to continue our NBA odds series with a Thunder-Mavericks prediction, pick, and how-to-watch.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the youngest teams in the NBA, have the most draft picks at their disposal, and an MVP candidate in Shae Gilgeous-Alexander. The future is so bright for the Thunder, which makes it even more encouraging that they were able to grab the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. The Thunder will be contending in the West for years to come, and people expected them to come back down to earth under the pressure of the playoffs. However, they silenced the doubters, sweeping the Pelicans with a combined point differential of +63. After winning by two in the first game, the Thunder covered four straight, including Game 1 of this series.

The Mavericks are no strangers to bouncing back in the playoffs. They dropped Game 1 of the Clippers series in Round 1, but won on the road in Game 2 and took a 2-1 series lead back home. The Clippers evened the series in Game 4, but the Mavericks won two straight to take the series in six. This series could follow the same script, as Luka Doncic came alive in Game 2. If he continues that form, it could be a long series for the Thunder.

Why The Thunder Could Cover The Spread/Win

The Game 2 loss was a small bump in the road for the Thunder, but they must feel good about their chances. The Thunder's confidence has been sky-high all season, as is evident in their loose pre and post-game shenanigans and rise to No.1 in the West. They won't be shaken by the Game 2 loss or the prospect of playing on the road. The Thunder played better on the road in Round 1, winning Game 3 by 21 points then Game 4 by eight.

The Thunder also had plenty of success against the Mavericks in the regular season, winning three of four games.

Why The Mavericks Could Cover The Spread/Win

The Mavericks took care of the Thunder in Game 2 and didn't get much help from Kyrie Irving, who chipped in nine points and 11 assists. PJ Washington was a big help, recording 29 points and 11 rebounds, but their potential is limitless if Irving can be a more consistent contributor.

The Mavericks have to be looking at their path and seeing a potential berth in the NBA Finals. The Timberwolves are up 2-0 against a Nuggets team that many expected to repeat as champions. If the Timberwolves knock off the Nuggets, it won't be easy to beat them, but the Mavericks stars match up well with Minnesota.

Final Thunder-Mavericks Prediction & Pick

The Thunder performed well against the Mavericks in the regular season, but there are reasons to believe that Dallas can come out on top in this matchup. The Thunder blew them out in the regular season's final game, but it was with a depleted lineup for Dallas. The Mavericks lost two of the other three games but covered two.

If Kyrie Irving contributes more and PJ Washington performs anywhere close to his Game 2 output, the Mavericks should take a 2-1 series lead. It doesn't mean the series is over, as you can expect this one to go six or seven games.
