The Green Bay Packers are 3-0 to begin the season despite the offense getting off to a slow start. With the offense starting slow, Aaron Rodgers expects “perfection” and “consistent” mental preparation from his wide receivers.

Via Rob Demovsky in ESPN:

“Perfect preparation,” Rodgers said this week. “I expect them to be ready to play and to understand the checks that we have, the responsibilities on certain plays, [to have] big eyes when it's a play that they're No. 1 in the progression and then doing the little things, as well.

“There's an expectation to [understand] your responsibility at all times. Drops are going to happen. But the mental stuff, you can't be out there consistently if you don't know what you're doing. I think those guys have made some really nice jumps this year.”

To begin the season, Rodgers and the Packers are one of the last few undefeated teams remaining in the NFL. However, unlike previous seasons, it isn't Rodgers and the offense carrying the team.

On the contrary, the defense has allowed 11.7 points per game (second-best in NFL) and just 197.3 passing yards per game (fifth-best in NFL). The offseason additions of Za'Darius Smith, Preston Smith, and Adrian Amos have definitely made a difference.

At the same time, Matt LaFleur is reliant upon young receivers Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison to help Davante Adams in the passing offense. The chemistry between them and Rodgers has yet to surface, but there are plenty of games left to be played.

The receivers and Rodgers will get their next chance to get on the same page on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.
