It wouldn't be Aaron Rodgers without some drama involving his new contract. Pat McAfee initially reported Rodgers' decision to return to the Green Bay Packers, but he didn't offer up any contract details. NFL Media's Ian Rapaport did, reporting a four-year deal worth $200 million overall and with $153 million in guaranteed money, which would make Rodgers the highest-paid player in NFL history.

However, McAfee pushed back on Rapaport's report multiple times throughout the morning, and this was echoed by The Athletic's Matt Schneidman. Now, Rodgers himself has chimed in:

Of course, it must be noted that Rodgers is indeed confirming his decision to return to Green Bay here, so Packers fans can breathe a sigh of relief. They'll have their star quarterback back in the fold, but it seems we might have to wait a bit longer to see the actual terms of this deal.

Or maybe Rapaport is mostly right and this is just Rodgers stirring stuff up for attention. Rapaport never said Rodgers had actually signed the deal, just that there was a general agreement. The assumption here is that the general framework Rapaport tweeted is basically correct, but there are surely still some other details to work out, and perhaps some slightly different final numbers.

When it comes down to it, Rodgers' contract will likely be right around that $50 million per year mark, which is what he was hoping to get. Green Bay is happy to have him back.
