The Green Bay Packers were fortunate to have two picks in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Heading into the 2022-2023 season, there are plenty of holes to fill in the team's roster. This includes the gaping vacancy left behind by Davante Adams, who took his talents to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Many Packers fans hoped that the team would take advantage of one of its first-round picks and draft a wide receiver. After all, Aaron Rodgers just lost his favorite offensive weapon. However, this wasn't the case Thursday night. Green Bay selected linebacker Quay Walker 22nd overall and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt 28th overall.

Rodgers, arguably the player affected the most by these decisions, joined the Pat McAfee Show late Thursday night. There, he discussed his opinions on the Packers' first-round decisions.

“I've been talking with them throughout the night,” Rodgers said.

He then mentioned that the top group of wide receivers was picked up within the first 18 picks. With Walker and Wyatt still available at that point, “I think it was pretty obvious that they wanted to sure up those two spots in their mind,” Rodgers said.

With only the first round complete, the Packers still have plenty of time to pick up a promising receiver in the 2022 NFL Draft. According to McAfee, Rodgers has high hopes for the upcoming rounds.

“You talked earlier about second-round and third-round wide receivers and having a lot of faith in the history of the Packers having a lot of success there,” McAfee said to the Green Bay quarterback Thursday night.

The Packers have three opportunities to secure a receiver on Friday. They hold the 53rd and 59th picks in the second round and the 92nd pick in the third round.
