The Davante Adams trade was arguably the biggest surprise of the 2022 NFL off-season. The ex-Green Bay Packers star requested a trade after being given the franchise tag, citing a desire to play for the Las Vegas Raiders. The front office obliged, sending Adams to Vegas in a massive deal that shook the NFL landscape.

Notably, the Davante Adams deal came a few days after Aaron Rodgers signed a massive contract for the Packers. It has led to speculation about Rodgers' decision and how that impacted the Adams negotiations. On the night of the NFL draft, Rodgers finally broke his silence on the Pat McAfee Show regarding the trade.

Rodgers said that he was negotiating his contract on the assumption that Adams would be returning. This contradicts the earlier rumors that said that the Packers QB was well-aware that his WR1 wanted out of the team. Still, though, Rodgers wished his former teammates the best of luck with his new team.

The Packers are now scrambling to try and replace the holes in their wide receiver room (Marques Valdez-Scantling also left them for the Chiefs). However, it seems like they didn't find anyone worth a first-round pick in the first day, as they spent their two picks on defensive linemen.

The next few years will likely be Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' final push for another Super Bowl ring. Will the front office finally splurge on high-end talent on offense? Or will their defensive moves carry them to a title run?
