The 2018 season has provided a clean slate around the league for players to make a run at the prestigious MVP award that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has claimed for the third time in his career.

Despite that, Las Vegas has pinned Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as the early favorite to earn that honor for the third time in his illustrious career.

Rodgers had appeared to be on pace to be in serious contention for the MVP award last season prior to suffering the broken collarbone injury that cost him nine games of the year. He finished the season with 1,675 passing yards and 16 touchdowns to six interceptions while holding a 97.2 passer rating and 60.9 quarterback rating. Clearly, his candidacy for the honor will lie with his health as he's returning from a serious ailment that he has now had happened to him twice in his career.

There is plenty of motivation for the 34-year-old to show that he has plenty left in the tank while erasing any concerns over his health in the process. When healthy, Rodgers has demonstrated to be arguably the most talented quarterback in the league that can single-handedly lead the Packers to a deep playoff run behind his stellar play on the field.

Meanwhile, Brady is returning next season with a chance to replicate his success from the 2017 campaign with the motivation of losing Super Bowl 52. He is coming off a year where he led the Patriots to a 13-3 behind his arm with an NFL-best 4,577 passing yards while being third with 32 passing touchdowns, a 102.8 passer rating, and fifth with a 66.3 completion percentage.

There are some changes to the personnel around him, but he has continued to prove that he can operate effectively with any group of talent. This could set the table for both quarterbacks to once again put up impressive campaigns while vying for the prestigious award.
