The Green Bay Packers are interested in free-agent tight end Austin Hooper, and the feeling may be mutual.

According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, Hooper was very complimentary of Aaron Rodgers when asked about the Packers quarterback, calling him one of the best to ever play the game:

“One of the greatest to do it, for sure,” Hooper said of Rodgers. “Definitely a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback. I mean, I can't say enough good things about the guy. Some of the things he does, I don't think anyone else in the league can do. I'm not saying anything revolutionary here. I really like his style and how he carries himself. He's just got a swagger about him where he's cool, calm, and collected. He always has an answer for what's happening.”

And you know what Rodgers could really use? A good tight end.

Green Bay thought it was getting that in March 2018 when it signed Jimmy Graham to a three-year deal, but Graham proved to be a rather big disappointment, having only a so-so year in 2018 before putting forth his least productive season since his rookie campaign this past year.

But unlike Graham, who is an aging player past his prime, Hooper is an ascending tight end coming off of the best season of his career.

Hooper, who has spent the first four years of his NFL tenure with the Atlanta Falcons, hauled in 75 receptions for 787 yards and six touchdowns in 2019, making his second straight Pro Bowl appearance.

The 25-year-old will easily be the best tight end available once free agency kicks off next week.
