The 2022 NFL free agency kicks off on Wednesday, March 16 and already the league has been filled with nonstop action. However, for the Green Bay Packers, things could be put in a tough spot regarding Davante Adams. If the front office can't figure it out soon, Green Bay could be without their superstar wide receiver.

Not long ago, the Packers placed the franchise tag on Davante Adams. According to Ian Rapoport, Adams refuses to play on the franchise tag. The star receiver aims to sign a long-term extension to remain in Green Bay for the long haul. It'll be tough to do as the franchise is running out of cap space, but a deal could be in the works at this very moment.

Apparently, the relationship between the Packers and Davante Adams is worsening, per Ian Rapoport. Both sides cannot come to an agreement on a deal, putting the Packers in a tough spot with free agency on the doorstep. Although Green Bay was able to mend the relationship with Aaron Rodgers, the front office needs to do the same with Adams now.

It's hard to imagine the Packers trading the superstar receiver, as he plays a massive role in the team's success. For that reason, Adams might have the upper hand in this scenario. Green Bay found a way to keep Rodgers and make their disgruntled quarterback much happier. If they fail to extend Davante Adams, everything could spiral out of control.

We'll see how it all plays out, but the Packers should be doing everything possible to get Davante Adams on the field before the start of the season. Players still have the power to sit out until a contract is complete, however, there are major financial penalties for doing so now. Keep an eye on Adams, as he looks to receive a big payday from Green Bay.
