The Green Bay Packers will have to find ways to score aside from their ground game as they are expected to be with three of their running backs in their Week 9 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Veteran ball-carrier Jamaal Williams and rookie rusher A.J. Dillon are already ruled out for Thursday's game while RB1 Aaron Jones remains to be probable due to his calf injury, as per ESPN‘s Adam Schefter.

Dillon recently tested positive for COVID-19 where he was placed on the team's COVID-19 list while Williams was suspected to have been a close contact of the rookie. Both players will be advised to remain on the sidelines in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols of the league.

On the other hand, Jones suffered a light calf strain just days before Green Bay’s Week 7 game against the Houston Texans which resulted in a 35-20 win. He was also ruled out of their most recent game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8 proceedings but missed his production as they succumbed to a 28-22 loss. He isn't completely ruled out yet but a return on the field is unlikely due to his limited participation in team practice, as per NBC Sports.

The Packers' running back room now consists of sophomore Dexter Williams and veteran journeyman Tyler Ervin who both saw limited action in their previous games. The Wisconsin-based squad currently holds a 5-2 record while the 49ers have a 4-4 tally heading into Week 9.

The Kyle Shanahan-led team also suffered big blows to their rotation as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will have an extended absence due to a high ankle sprain while tight end George Kittle was also ruled out indefinitely due to a small foot fracture sustained in their most recent game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Packers and the Niners will both aim to snag a much-needed win in a Week 9 rematch of the NFC Championship game in last season's playoffs.
