Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers have been aggressive this offseason and that did not stop towards the end of the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. After selecting Michigan's Rashan Gary with the No. 12 overall pick, the Packers moved up in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks to select Maryland safety Darnell Savage.

In order to make the move, Green Bay gave up the No. 30 overall pick and two fourth-round selections in this years draft. The move shores up a major need at safety for the Packers.

Green Bay has been focusing on defense heavily this offseason. In addition to drafting Gary and Savage, the Packers went out and signed Preston Smith, Za'Darius Smith, and Adrian Amos in free agency. All five of these players are going to be impact players for Green Bay immediately.

Mike Pettine has to be ecstatic about the moves the Packers have made. Savage is the type of playmaking, hard-hitting safety that can seriously change the secondary in Green Bay.

Last season with the Maryland Terrapins, Savage racked up 52 total tackles to go along with four interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and two defended passes. He may have some work to do from a coverage perspective, but he has the potential to be a legitimate star in the Packers' secondary.

NFL.com has Savage's comparison as Lamarcus Joyner, which is a very solid comparison, to say the least.

The Packers have to be feeling good about their draft so far. They still have their second round pick and their third rounder. Being able to trade up for their guy without giving up more than two fourth-round picks is a big win.
