Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix didn’t get a long-term deal he was looking for this offseason even as he stayed away from OTAs. As a result, he believes his fifth season with the team will be his last.

Per Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin, Clinton-Dix doesn’t think he’ll be with the Packers next year, which is inspiring him to perform in order to impress other teams.

“Right now, I’m playing each and every game like it’s my last. I don’t think I’m going to be here next year,” Clinton-Dix said. “That’s how I look at it. I just [have to] be honest with myself. You’ve got to play it game-by-game. Whether we’re losing by 60 points, you’ve got to go out there and perform. This is my biggest interview of my career. So I’ve got to perform, regardless of what the record says.”

Clinton-Dix, 25, was the Packers’ first-round pick in 2014. He’s played in 69 out of a possible 69 games thus far in his career and has started all but six of them.

After his breakout Pro Bowl season in 2016, he had a somewhat disappointing campaign last year. However, he’s made a strong start this year and has already recorded three interceptions through the first five games.

It remains to be seen whether Clinton-Dix’s belief about his time in Green Bay will actually come to fruition. But if he continues his fine play throughout this year, he may just convince the Packers that he truly is worth a big long-term contract.
