The NFL has announced that it has suspended Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Alex Light one game for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

The Packers won't be all that fazed by losing out on Light. He has only played three offensive snaps this season. He played two snaps at right guard and one at left tackle December 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Packers are 5-8-1 and will not be able to make the playoffs unless a miracle happens. They fired head coach Mike McCarthy half way through the season and have been a hot mess since.

That game the Packers completely man-handled the Falcons winning the game 34-20. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 262 yards, 3 touchdowns, and one interception. Packers superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers only threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns.

Light also has played nine special teams snaps — six against the Falcons and three Sunday against the Chicago Bears. This past weekend the Chicago Bears handily defeated their NFC North rivals the Packers by a score of 24-17. Rodgers had hardly any time to throw in the pocket, and the Bears front four did an excellent job pressuring him without the use of blitzes.

The Bears often run a nickel defense with 5 defensive backs. This hurts teams because their defensive line usually contains running attempts at the line of scrimmage. Rodgers was able to throw for 274 yards and only one interception, but had no touchdown passes and was sacked five times.

Light will now miss Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.
