The Green Bay Packers made headlines with the firing of head coach Mike McCarthy. Wide receiver Davante Adams admits that this has somewhat left the franchise in a state of flux.

The Packers parted ways with McCarthy following an embarrassing loss to the Arizona Cardinals. According to Michael Cohen of The Athletic, has no hard feelings toward Mike McCarthy despite the team's struggles in the 2018 NFL season:

“It's tough because that insinuates that I'm in favor of him being fired. I mean, there's obviously some negative stigma lately. You mention Mike McCarthy's name in a public setting and I'm sure it carries a negative connotation. But at the same time, he's done such amazing things for this town, more than anything. Obviously, the football team, he's been able to contribute to a lot to us as men individually. I have a lot of respect for him and it's sad to see him gone. I wouldn't say it's like a cloud or anything like that. Hopefully, things get better from here on out and hopefully things get better for him as well.

There is certainly plenty of truth to Adams' comments. The lackluster 2018 campaign raised questions regarding what had plagued the Packers. Many assumed that there was friction between McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers. This obviously did not bode well for the veteran coach with his inability to win despite having one of the most talented quarterbacks in NFL history. Like Adams, Rodgers has downplayed any notion of bad blood between the two.

Regardless, it is clear that the Packers will have some serious re-tooling to do this offseason. Adams is arguably the only bonafide weapon in the receiving corps. Furthermore, all eyes will be on Green Bay's head coaching vacancy. It will be interesting to see which route they decide to choose when picking the person who will be calling plays for Rodgers moving forward.
