The Green Bay Packers are considering adding help at the wide receiver spot ahead of the trade deadline. Dianna Russini of ESPN reported the Packers have indeed discussed trading for Houston Texans wideout Will Fuller.

However, Russini indicated there is internal disagreement within the organization as to whether it will be worth the potential cost to acquire Fuller, who will be a free agent at the end of the year:

“I’m told the Green Bay Packers have discussed trading for Texans' receiver Will Fuller,”  Russini tweeted Tuesday afternoon. “However, there's been a disagreement in Green Bay at the highest levels of the organization over whether or not adding an elite receiver in the short term would be worth the spend.”

For his part, Fuller appears to be biding his time until he gets more clarity with respect to his status.

The former first-round pick has been an explosive playmaker for the Texans this year, hauling in 31 receptions for 490 yards and five touchdowns in the team's first seven games.

But the Texans could be headed for a sell-off Tuesday, and Fuller is expected to be available given he will be a free agent at the end of the year. Then again, the latter part could pose issues for some teams depending on Houston's asking price.

However, pursuing Fuller might be in Green Bay's best interest.

The Packers have one of the highest-scoring offenses in football. Aaron Rodgers is putting together one of his best seasons in recent years, and both Aaron Jones and Davante Adams are among the best players at their respective positions.

But Adams has accounted for nearly half of the team's receiving yards and receptions this year. Tight end Robert Tonyan has become a legitimate target, but guys like Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have not been much more than home run threats.

Perhaps Fuller is the playmaker Rodgers and the offense needs to take the next step as a contender in the NFC.
