This offseason, the Green Bay Packers decided to announce Matt LaFleur as their new head coach. This came after Green Bay fired Mike McCarthy after 13 seasons with the organization.

According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, LaFleur didn't have full say on who his assistants were. That's not what'd you like to hear as a Packers fan after witnessing the drama with McCarthy unfold.

For years, the Packers have been one of the most storied franchises in the NFL. In recent seasons though, their seasons have been filled with disappointment.

Green Bay has failed to reach the playoffs in the last two seasons. Therefore, a change needed to be made immediately.

Hiring LaFleur as the head coach showed that the Packers want a new offensive mind taking control. Although, it doesn't seem like he had control of who was hired as his assistant coaches.

Mark Murphy has reportedly gained more control of the Packers' management as the team president. A lot of people are saying the new management power could cause problems for the franchise moving forward.

Usually, when you bring in a new head coach, that guy will get the opportunity to hand pick his own staff. You would think that the Packers would've done that with LaFleur—who is known to be a bright, young offensive mind.

The Packers needed to move in a different direction after McCarthy seemed out of touch in today's NFL. Although, not allowing LaFleur to decide on his own assistants could prevent the new Packers head coach from succeeding long-term.
