Friday night was special for Oakland Raiders wideout Jordy Nelson as he got to face his old team, the Green Bay Packers, for the first time since his release. That gave him the chance to catch up with his old teammates, particularly Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers, who got the night off, got the chance to play a quick game of catch with his former No. 1 target during pre-game for old time’s sake.

It should be noted that Rodgers and Nelson weren’t the only old friends who got a chance to reunite. Raiders QB Derek Carr also got to throw some balls to his former college teammate from Fresno State, Packers wideout Davante Adams.

Packers fans are all too familiar with the sight of Nelson reeling in a pass from Rodgers. The two did a lot of linking up during the decade they spent together in Green Bay.

However, they were unable to do so as much last season after Rodgers went down with his collarbone injury. And they won’t get the chance to do so again following the Packers’ decision to cut Nelson this offseason. That move obviously didn’t please Rodgers, who considers Nelson a very close friend as well as his most trusted receiver.

But Nelson no longer being part of the Packers hasn’t stopped the two pals from keeping in constant communication with one another, as Rodgers recently revealed. So while their on-field connections will now be limited to a few pre-game throws when their teams happen to cross paths, their special bond still remains as strong as ever.
