Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen ruptured his plantar fascia in the team's Week 13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Olsen suffered the injury in the second quarter and was eventually carted to the locker room. After the game, Olsen told reporters that the injury will likely cause him to miss the rest of the season.

From Joe Person of The Athletic:

Greg Olsen says he ruptured his plantar fascia. Indicates he’s done for the season. Says it time to fix his foot. He’s not ready to address his long-term future.

Olsen had just one catch for 13 yards before having to leave the game.

You have to feel for the veteran tight end, who has continually been battling injuries over the past few seasons.

He played only seven games last season due to injury, and should he indeed miss the rest of this campaign, he'll finish with just nine games played this season.

Olsen being sidelined only adds to the current issues surrounding the Panthers, as Cam Newton and company have now dropped four games in a row after starting 6-2 on the season.

The remaining schedule doesn't exactly do Carolina any favors either, with Ron Rivera's team set to head to Cleveland in Week 14 before finishing the year with two games against New Orleans and one against Atlanta.

That's certainly not an ideal group of opponents for a team that's trying to completely change the landscape of its season after such a promising start.
