Although most of the attention surrounding the Carolina Panthers has been focused on the state of the offense, they quietly managed to shore up some stability over the top alongside safety Eric Reid with the addition of Tre Boston.

Reid and Boston are slated to form quite the safety tandem in Carolina. According to Joe Person at the Athletic, the latter admits he is excited to get to work with his new teammate:

“It means a lot (to be playing with Reid). . . It’s something I’ve thought about for a while now. To have a solidified veteran in that room, somebody who knows how to play ball — somebody who, outside of football, holds himself to a high standard, it means a lot.”

Boston holds great admiration for his teammate's efforts both on and off the field. Reid was at the forefront of the protests of social injustice and had to file a grievance against the NFL after being left without a team in free agency before ultimately signing with the new ownership in Carolina last year.

Although Boston has never been shy about expressing his opinions about the state of affairs in our society, he has yet to reveal whether or not he intends to join Reid in his continued protest. Regardless, he is focused on forming one of the most formidable safety duos in the league.

Fortunately, Boston finds himself in familiar territory in his second stint with the Panthers. Recent reports suggest that he has already made quite the impression on head coach Ron Rivera. His one-year deal could potentially turn into an extended stay if he proves to be a solid fit.
