We are all well aware of the fact that Bill Belichick is well compensated well by the New England Patriots. However, I'm betting more than a few folks will be surprised to realize just how much the 69-year-old shot-caller/general manager actually earns — especially if you put it in the context of some of his colleagues in both the NFL and the NBA.

A recent report presented the 25 highest-paid coaches throughout America and unsurprisingly, the Patriots coach sits at the very top of the mountain. Belichick is currently earning a whopping $18 million per year as he sets an extremely high bar for the industry:

As you see on the list, the Seattle Seahawks' Pete Carroll and Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints are tied at second with annual earnings of $14 million each.

Interestingly, the highest-paid NBA coach on the list is San Antonio Spurs icon Gregg Popovich. Coach Pop's $11.5 million per season pales in comparison to what Bill Belichick is pocketing from the Patriots, and so does the $9.5 million Steve Kerr earns every year from the Golden State Warriors.

Another interesting tidbit here is how Kyle Shanahan of the San Francisco 49ers is the only coach in the Top 10 that has yet to win a trophy. He also has the worst winning record among the Top 13 coaches on the list.

Finally, we also need to make special mention of the racial disparity here. Out of the 25 highest-paid coaches in the nation, only two of them are Black. They are Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Doc Rivers of the Philadelphia 76ers. What does this say about racial inequity in the coaching ranks?
