There was one perfect passer from Sunday's slate of games. He doesn't play quarterback. His name? Julian Edelman, wide receiver for the New England Patriots.

On 3rd-and-11 in a tightly contested win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Edelman, on a trick play, found fellow wide-out Phillip Dorsett for a 15-yard touchdown. It turns out; the touchdown would be the last of the game, one that ultimately won it for New England.

After the win over the Eagles, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was all jokes about the play. Said the legendary coach after the game:

“He keeps his quarterback rating up there pretty high. I’m sure he will have to ice his shoulder down this week and massage it and everything else. That was a great play by Julian.”

For his career, Edelman is 5 for 6 passing for two touchdown passes. That stat line should not be surprising, however. He finished his collegiate career as one of the most prolific quarterbacks in Kent State football history.

During his three seasons at Kent State, Edelman tallied 4,997 yards, 30 touchdowns and 31 interceptions on a 54.5% completion rate. He was a dual-threat back in the day, also recording 502 rush attempts for 2,483 yards and 22 touchdowns. His total offense broke Josh Cribbs' record set in 2003.

Nonetheless, Edelman is now one of the most feared slot receivers in the NFL. However, that doesn't mean Josh McDaniels doesn't have some folds in his playbooks to get him a few tosses. Now the real question is when they will do the same for fellow former quarterback turned receiver Mohamed Sanu.
