Cam Newton made his debut with the New England Patriots on Sunday, coming away with a victory over the Miami Dolphins. Following his first start with the Patriots, Newton spoke about the ‘disrespect' he felt while he was in free agency.

When the Carolina Panthers hired Matt Rhule as their next head coach, there was a belief that Newton would remain as the team's starting quarterback. However, the Panthers would release Newton and would sign Teddy Bridgewater to replace him under center.

As a result, for the first time in his professional career, Newton was uncertain of where he'd be suiting up in 2020. There were a handful of teams looking to add new quarterbacks this offseason, but none of them expressed interest in Newton. That is except the Patriots, who waited patiently to ink Newton to a one-year deal.

Due to his strong showing in training camp, Newton would be named the starter for New England in Week 1. In addition to that, the former No. 1 pick was named an offensive captain for the Patriots.

In his debut on Sunday against the Dolphins, Newton was impressively efficient, completing 15 of his 19 attempts for 155 yards. On the other hand, he rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on 15 attempts.

Fans and the media alike were curious to see what New England's offense would look like with Newton leading the charge. Seeing that Bill Belichick complimented the former NFL MVP for his performance, he is fond of what he's seen thus far. And given what Newton continues to say about other teams passing on him, we're going to get a motivated version of him in 2020.
