Since Tom Brady decided to leave the New England Patriots and join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, some have wondered what led him to make that decision. Asante Samuel, a former teammate of Brady's, claims that Brady left New England due to Bill Belichick:

Samuel was drafted in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Patriots and spent five seasons in New England. During his time in Foxborough, Samuel won two Super Bowls and was a one-time All-Pro.

Now, being seven years removed from the NFL, Samuel claimed it wasn't fun playing for Belichick. The former cornerback would take it a step further and say that Belichick is the reason Brady left the Patriots.

TMZ using the word “bolted” seems like a bit of an exaggeration in this situation. For 20 years, Belichick and Brady sat atop the NFL, with both of them winning six Super Bowls and countless playoff games.

Similar to any relationship, there are inevitably going to be some disagreements. Especially when you consider the fact that Belichick and Brady were together for two decades. It didn't seem like Brady “bolted” from New England in any capacity, though.

In all likeliness, we'll likely never find out the true reason — or reasons — for why Brady chose to leave the Patriots. But to act like someone darted, after 20 seasons, seems like a bit of a stretch.

Regardless of the reason, Brady and Belichick spent 20 seasons together that were filled with success. While Brady didn't leave New England in a hurry, he and Belichick could have simply agreed it was best to part ways at this point in their careers.
