The speculation continues surrounding the immediate future of superstars Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots. Although neither player has publicly stated they'll suit up next season for Bill Belichick and company, it seems as though it is a foregone conclusion both players will be back.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Gronkowski and Brady will play next season for the Patriots.

The fact that Tom Brady hasn’t specifically said that he’ll play this year (unless he has) likely isn’t a big deal. The fact that Rob Gronkowski hasn’t is more significant. In the end, however, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Patriots expect both players to suit up and play in 2018.

Obviously, this is great news for New England. The franchise has gone through a few drastic changes over the NFL offseason thus far, and having the immediate future of these two superstars up in the air is not ideal for the perennial Super Bowl title contenders.

However, despite the report from Pro Football Talk, there's still no guarantee either player continues their NFL career. The Patriots have already parted ways with quite a few players in one way or another potentially suggesting a rebuilding process on the horizon.

Among the departures include Danny Amendola, Brandin Cooks, Dion Lewis, Nate Solder, Malcolm Butler, and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. The loss of these players in free agency and trades will make New England look like a much different team on both sides of the football next season with no telling if it could be the beginning of a decline for the franchise.

It'll be interesting to see how things look in New England once the dust settles on this offseason. It may go either way for the Patriots with at least one more season in contention or potentially the start of a dismantling of one of the most successful runs in NFL history.
