The New England Patriots have suffered several key losses to both the coaching staff and player personnel this offseason. Now it is being reported that wide receiver Danny Amendola will also be on his way out after agreeing to terms with the Miami Dolphins.

Needless to say, tight end Rob Gronkowski is among those in Foxborough sad to see him go. Gronkowski even posted a heartfelt message on Instagram accompanied by a video of him giving Amendola a massive bear hug:

It was an honor playing with ya the past 5 years Danny Amendola Thanks for all the hugs and memories! Stay lit, Be FREE, Be HAPPY. Your hard work, the way you play at your size, the pain you fought through, the hits you take and get right back up talking shit back. I appreciated it all. Congrats. Enjoy Miami kid.

It goes without saying that the two enjoyed massive success together in New England. Amendola joined Gronkowski in the Patriots receiving corps just as they had started to emerge as legitimate Super Bowl contenders once again prior to the 2013 NFL season. They ultimately wound up winning two titles together over the next five seasons.

While there is little doubt about Gronk's status as one of the elite pass-catchers in the NFL, Amendola served as a viable option in New England's offensive scheme. Furthermore, the veteran wideout has literally paid his dues over the years after taking multiple pay cuts to remain with the Patriots.

That said, it was only a matter of time before he got scooped up by another team in desperate need of a solid weapon. Fortunately, Gronkowski will be able to see his former teammate when they battle it out in the AFC East next season twice a year.
