The New England Patriots got their season off to a winning start against the Houston Texans, and they had stars Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski to thank. The dynamic duo combined seven times for 123 yards and a touchdown, including an incredible 28-yard grab in double coverage.

On his weekly radio spot on WEEI on Monday morning, Brady couldn’t help but heap praise on his star tight end, whom he called the G.O.A.T. at his position.

“They did a good job on him, just trying to keep him out of the game. But it is tough because he's so talented. He's the best tight end in the league — probably the best to ever play the game,” Brady said via MassLive.com. “When you have that guy on your team, you have to give him looks. We did, and he came up big for us.”

Brady added that the rest of the Patriots must match Gronk’s greatness and take advantage of all the attention he attracts in order to reach elite status offensively this season.

While Jalen Ramsey might disagree with Brady’s assessment of Gronk as the greatest tight end ever, few others will. Gronkowski’s level of dominance during his career has been nothing short of amazing and rightly deserves recognition.

With the Patriots still without suspended top wideout Julian Edelman for three more weeks, Brady will have to continue counting on Gronkowski to provide more of the same production that he came up with against the Texans. And after delivering against a strong Houston defense, it's a safe bet that the tight end G.O.A.T. can come through a couple more times for the team.
