Even though Trent Brown is in a position where he can negotiate a handsome payday wherever he goes, he'd like to stay with the New England Patriots, if he can.

ESPN (via NBC Sports) has the scoop on the interview Brown gave them about his desire to stay with the Patriots:

Brown told Adam Schefter of ESPN that he is looking for a situation where he “can build some longevity, somewhere that’ll be a great place and great fit schematically.” He also said that he’d like for that place to be New England.

“That’s definitely something I would love,” Brown said. “But hey, we’re going to cross that bridge when we get there.” Brown also said that he believes he’s the best pass protector in the league and, true or not, his work is likely going to have several teams interested in bringing him to their offensive line. That could price him out of New England, but, as Brown said, that bridge won’t get here until March 13.”

Should Trent Brown, however, be unable to stay in New England, he can take comfort in knowing that he'll be compensated nicely for his trouble.

He made a whopping $1.9 million during the 2018 season, and when he becomes an unrestricted free agent, he'll be nearly guaranteed a handsome salary in the several million figures.

It remains to be seen, however, if the Patriots are the team that will be offering it to him, or if another team will be willing to pony up a handsome salary to have him on their squad.
