Bill Belichick will once again be looking to replace his cabinet as yet again, it's been savagely cleaned out by 31 other hands. Hey, winning breeds attention and the New England Patriots organization would never opt for losing while keeping all of its individuals safely in tow.

The new name to find a home under Belichick is Greg Schiano. According to Gary Tanguay of NBC Sports Boston, Schiano is expected to officially interview for the position of defensive coordinator.

The 2017 offseason is expected to be a rough one for the possibly soon-to-be six-time Super Bowl champion. Not only will he be losing one of his coordinators, he'll be hit with a two-count.

It's already a done deal in Detroit. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia will officially be named the new head coach of the Lions next week after all Super Bowl festivities are completed. On the other side of the ball, Josh McDaniels has reportedly taken the boss job with the Indianapolis Colts—his second head coaching stint after a quick two-season variety with the Denver Broncos seven seasons ago.

Schiano, 51, of Wyckoff, New Jersey, is a friend of Belichick's. He compiled a record of 11-21 in two full seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He received his start in 1988 at Ramapo High School. After grad assistant stints with Rutgers and Penn State, and assistant coaching jobs with Penn State, the Chicago Bears, and the University of Miami, Schiano took hold of the Rutgers Football program from 2001 to 2011. He's been the Ohio State defensive coordinator under Urban Meyer since 2016.

Schiano was also recently offered the head coaching position at the University of Tennessee, but the school backed out after backlash from the fanbase relating to his ties to former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky.

Shortly after the Tennessee issue, Belichick went public about Schiano, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Asked if he’d vouch for Schiano’s character, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said this, without hesitation: “100 percent. Yes, 100 percent.”

“I have great respect and think he’s a great football coach,” Belichick added. “I’m not really involved in any other situation, but speaking about him as a coach and a person, [I have] the utmost respect and zero reservations. Zero.”

The only outstanding question now is whether or not Greg Schiano will be interviewing for the defensive coordinator job of the Super Bowl 52 champs or runner-ups.
