The New England Patriots (13-3) were all smiles on Sunday after they cruised to a 26-6 win over the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium. The victory sealed them as the No. 1 seed in the AFC for the second straight year after they sealed a bye in the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season with last week's 37-16 win over the Buffalo Bills. One player who was extra giggly after the game was Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Gronkowski, who entered the game with 69 catches on the year, was not targeted all game for the first time in his career. Thus, he finished the season with his favorite number for receptions during the 2017-18 regular season and simply couldn't help but laugh about it.

A short video of the exchange was posted to Twitter by Ryan Hannable of WEEI:

Gronkowski did, in fact, finish the season with 69 catches for 1,084 yards on 106 targets to go along with eight touchdown receptions. This had to have been done on purpose, right?

Never change, Gronk. Never change one bit. There have been plenty of funny stories to emerge about Gronkowski and his fascination with the number 69. One that immediately comes to mind was last season during the playoffs when his former high school basketball coach went on the radio to tell a legendary Gronk tale.
