Over the past two seasons, Quincy Pondexter has missed more than a season’s worth of games due to injuries.

With the New Orleans Pelicans’ roster being hampered to begin the year, Pondexter could have seen some extra run for himself. Unfortunately, he won’t be seeing the court for the time being.

In an article by John Reid for NOLA.com, Pelicans GM Dell Demps talked about the amount of time that New Orleans’ sharpshooter will sit out.

”The next two to four weeks will give us an understanding when he will be ready to play,” Demps said. ”He has been participating in some of our offseason workouts. The best-case scenario would be November, but it could be December or January.”

His long distance marksmanship will be sorely missed by this team. Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon, two of the Pelicans’ gunner from last season, are now with the Houston Rockets, leaving Pondexter and his 43% accuracy from beyond the arc as one of the main, if not the main, kickout options when everyone return back to full health.

”It has been extremely difficult and to say that I'm not disappointed would be a lie,” said Pondexter, who had not played in a game for the Pelicans since April 25, 2015. ”I want to be out there with my teammates even if I had no legs. I'm not one of those guys that would take an injury and and would say for my best interest I have to sit out. It's too hard for me to do that because I love the game too much.”

It’s no surprise that five-year veteran is this disappointed, but he’ll have to be extra patient if he wants to see himself contributing for the longterm.
