The New Orleans Pelicans may have suffered an early exit in the NBA Playoffs at the hands of the Pheonix Suns but that doesn't mean their players aren't busy at the start of the offseason. The franchise got some exciting news when it was revealed that star forward Zion Williamson, who missed the entire 2021 season while rehabbing a foot injury, was cleared to return. However, that wasn't the only major piece of Pelicans news that recently broke. Star guard CJ McCollum made a huge announcement with ESPN ahead of the NBA Finals, per the Associated Press.

The network announced Monday that they have signed the Pelicans star to a multi-platform deal. He will make his ESPN debut on Thursday during “NBA Finals: Celebrating 75”, which will be ESPN2's alternate presentation of Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics.

McCollum, who graduated with a journalism degree from Lehigh University, has appeared on ESPN as a guest analyst in the past.

The Pelicans star will also work with ESPN on a new podcast. In addition to the NBA Finals, fans will see McCollum as an analyst during Summer League games this offseason, as well as in the studio.

After a life-changing trade from the Portland Trail Blazers this past season, McCollum has made a huge career move with ESPN.
