At the rate he's going right now, New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis looks like a man playing amongst boys. While this may sounds like an exaggeration for some, there is actually a lot more merit to this analogy than one might assume. At least Boston Celtics All-Star guard Kyrie Irving seems to think so.

Irving recently described what he thinks about Davis' level of play, and the former NBA champ expressed how highly (literally) he thought of the Pelicans big man:

“He treats the rest of us as if we're playing on a little rim at this point,” Kyrie Irving said recently, laughing, via Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

Davis has been his usual amazing self for New Orleans so far this season. In 24 appearances, the 25-year-old is currently averaging 26.9 points (on 50.2 percent shooting), 0.8 3-pointers, 12.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.6 steals, and 3.0 blocks in 36.8 minutes of action. Except for the points and the field goal percentage, these are actually all career-best numbers for Davis.

Interestingly enough, the speculation pertaining to a future team-up between Irving and Davis in Boston somewhere down the road continues to pick up steam. While Davis appears to be a happy camper as the Pelicans' cornerstone star, these rumors just won't go away.

Perhaps the fact that Anthony Davis has a player option on his contract for the 2020-21 season is the main culprit behind the chatter. The five-time All-Star could potentially walk away from New Orleans two years from now, leaving the team with absolutely nothing to show for it, so up until an extension is signed, the whispers will continue to get louder and louder.
