Lonzo Ball has already been labeled as a bust by a lot of people following his underwhelming stint with the Los Angeles Lakers. The second overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft has failed to live up to the expectations, which is one of the main reasons why he's been traded to the New Orleans Pelicans.

But Ball still strongly believes that he can be one of the best point guards in the league, and in his interview with ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk, the 21-year-old playmaker said he's eager to prove what he's capable of with the Pelicans.

“I know New Orleans is excited to have me, and I'm excited to get started. Moving to a new team, a new situation, a new organization, new coaches, new everything — it's a refresh, getting back to playing basketball how I know I can play.”

Ball had a rough start to his NBA career. He doesn't have a reliable jumper, and he can't seem to stay healthy for a full season. During his time with the Lakers, he was only able to play in 47 games during his rookie season and 52 games in his second. Still, Zo remains patient and optimistic about his future with the Pelicans

“Obviously, injuries kind of messed up things a little bit. But you take the bumps with the bruises and keep moving forward. Only been in the league for two years and looking forward to this third year in New Orleans, get a fresh start and show people what I can do.

There is no denying the fact that Ball is someone who still has the potential to be an All-Star. If his numbers will be more consistent and if he will be able to avoid injuries, he might be able to get things going. He may have failed to become the Lakers' point guard of the future as Magic Johnson once suggested, but he can still be great, especially with a team like the Pelicans, whose coaching staff is reportedly a fan of his.

It's up to him to prove his doubters wrong.
