Zion Williamson isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He's already declared his desire to sign an extension with the New Orleans Pelicans, who for their part, are more than willing to offer him a max deal.

Zion recently spoke out about his mindset during these past few months amid his rehab. The former first overall pick was unable to take the floor this season for the Pelicans due to injury, but at this point, it is clear that he's raring to go. When asked about his primary motivation ahead of the upcoming season, Williamson revealed that it was all about his teammates:

“Pels in the first round. That's all I needed to see to really be excited to get back out there,” said the Pelicans star, via Andrew Lopez of ESPN. “It was exciting to see young players. Jose [Alvarado], Trey [Murphy III], Herb [Jones], Jaxson [Hayes]. Just blossoming into players I knew they could be and they knew they could be. Then watching [Brandon Ingram]. The name speaks for itself. Then CJ [McCollum] being added, it was something to watch. The fans made it so much better.”

The good news for the Pelicans is that all signs are pointing to the fact that Zion Williamson will be ready to go to start the 2022-23 campaign. At this point, New Orleans fans can get excited again.

“It was a long year for me for rehab and mental battles. I'm fine now. I'm ready to get to work,” said Williamson.
